Dermabrasion is a technique that has been around for as long as chemical peels and a long time constituent of skin care. Microdermabrasion tends to be used as a lighter and less invasive treatment requiring little if any down time. A sprayer is used that emits tiny particles or crystals that sandblast the facial skin and then, through suction, removes the crystals and skin cells. Microdermabrasion is similar to a superficial skin peel like glycolic or salicylic acid.
