Some medical tests can be quite inexpensive (unless you use an in house laboratory service like Labcorp and then the costs can be 10 times higher easily for the exact same tests – a honest law firm needs to look into the practices of Labcorp and this illegal price).  Other tests which are usually recommended at these board meetings are very, very expensive like MRI’s, CAT scans, etc… and can cost thousands of dollars and yield little or no value to the patient or their doctor.  The only value will be added to the hospitals bottom line.

Some testing is even grouped with expensive counseling and more tests especially with maternity and pregnancy.  Patients whom have little or no chance of having births resulting in certain syndromes and genetic diseases are grouped together with others that do so that more expensive tests and profits result.  The hospitals and physicians do not care that they are not only bilking their patients and the health care system, but they also don’t care that they are needlessly worrying patients with unnecessary genetic counseling, and even causing miscarriages and lost babies that would have been normal babies.  There are endless horror stories of this form of patient abuse in the name of promoting unnecessary tests and profits all over the internet.
