How to tell if you are pregnant
By David Maillie
Signs of Pregnancy
The most common sign of pregnancy is of course when you miss your menstrual period. If you’re not sure when your last period was, then there are some other signs or symptoms which can help to indicate weather or not you are pregnant. The body releases specific hormones during pregnancy which has various effects of you and your body. These hormones made my wife quite aggressive, well that’s what she blamed anyway!
Early symptoms
The initial symptom that suggests first pregnancy is through your breasts. Your breasts begin to feel bigger, heavier, and fuller. Often your breasts become more sensitive and may start to tingle. The cause of all of these effects is due to the increase in production and release of hormones like estrogen and progesterone. These enzymes once released cause the breasts to grow in preparation for producing milk after the delivery of the child. In the first pregnancy case, you will notice tubercles developing. They are tiny spots around your nipple.
During early pregnancy, you will notice a fall in your stamina and energy levels. You will tire out easily throughout your pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy, as the body is utilizing a lot of energy to produce hormones and the extra blood in order to supply nutrition’s the fetus, you are bound to feel tired and lethargic. The extra blood flow is required, and so a larger amount of progesterone is required. The extra work of the heart to control the greater flow of blood at a greater efficiency causes you to feel tired. Due to the increased in the production of progesterone, you feel drained of energy and stamina. Progesterone is a depressant, yes that’s the opposite of an anti-depressant! So clever! I know you’re thinking of slipping it into that overly cheerful guy at the office, but that isn’t nice.
Unfortunately for the woman (and the partner) this tiredness lasts for quite a considerable length of time, until your body has adjusted to the increased levels of progesterone, which will occur well into the pregnancy.
