One of the earliest signs of pregnancy is one which usually occurs within a couple of weeks of the fertilization, is implantation bleeding. When the fertilized egg joins the lining of the uterus, it causes the body to bleed. This bleeding is known as implantation bleeding. This is normally noticeable because this blood is a lot lighter in shade and a bit spottier when compared to menstrual bleeding.
As the uterus expands, to accommodate the fertilized egg, it causes cramps. These cramps are similar to the cramps felt during menstrual period. The implantation bleeding accompanied by nausea or morning sickness is a clear indication of a pregnancy. Morning sickness or nausea often occur due to the increase in the production of estrogen by the placenta and the fetus. These hormones cause constipation and increase the pregnant women’s sensitivity of the nose. She can smell even the faintest odor. Any strong odor like cigarette smoke, perfume, or food can cause a pregnant woman to vomit.
Some other common indicators are headaches, constipation, increased urination, mood swings and nausea. In my limited experience of pregnancy I have found mood swings to be a very reliable indicator.
As blood circulation increases due to the increase in hormones, it can cause headaches. During pregnancy the flow of food through gastrointestinal reduces, and this can cause constipation.
Mood swings are thought to be caused by the increase in production of certain hormones during the first trimester. These symptoms should help you to decide whether you or your wife is pregnant, maybe you’ll be able to book an appointment before you even realize that you’ve missed your period! I doubt you would be able to see a doctor before though, you know what the waiting times are like!
