How many times have you heard of someone starting a diet, whether it be a friend, relative or coworker, and watch them lose weight and then gain it right back? Probably quite often. The odds of someone achieving permanent weight loss without bariatric or similar surgery is very low. Look, even Oprah, with her paid staff has failed numerous times. Exercise is an essential and very important part of losing weight. Getting motivated and staying motivated to exercise daily can be quite a task.
So how does one increase their level of fitness and a number of days that they workout per week and stay motivated to maintain this on a more permanent ongoing basis? Well first, no one ever said you have to pick one particular type of exercise. If you find aerobics or your home workout gym boring maybe you need to look elsewhere. It could be something as simple as moving your treadmill so you can watch TV while you're running on it. Just a simple move could make it so that you could multi-task and watch something interesting or educational while getting a workout at the same time.
You can also switch it up by every other day using your treadmill or elliptical machine and then in between using a rowing machine or step climber or other aerobic workout device to change it up and make it more interesting. It is also a good idea to incorporate running outdoors into your workout regimen. If you are not up to running yet there's nothing wrong with walking and eventually picking up your pace a little and working towards getting to where you can run.
Do you suffer from acne or wrinkles?
Running is one of the best aerobic exercises you can do for your entire body. And the best part is you can pick a different place run every day if you wanted to. No matter where you live United States somewhere nearby is a park, greenway or other areas of interest or you can run freely and at your own pace. I personally recommend running as it is a tremendous form of exercise and a great way to lose weight and get in shape.
Runners can also tell you that many of them become addicted to running because running releases endorphins which make you feel better and euphoric at times. You also start to like the fact that you're running faster and it becomes easier. Soon you may decide to try some competitive running or even join a local running club. There are many of these and a great place to start to find one is to look at your local Meetup site. Just Google the keyword meetup and then enter in your city or zip code and watch how many local running groups there are that you can join.
Many of these running groups will have people of various abilities from newbies on up to advanced runners and everywhere in between. Now this gets to the second part of getting motivated to exercise every day - that is to incorporate the help of an outsider. This is so important that it is essential to your success in getting healthier and being consistent with your exercising. Regardless of what form of exercise that you wish to partake in, whether it be running, crew, aerobics, etc., you will go much farther into much better if you have others that are going through it and participating with you.

By enlisting others or meeting others and befriending them through groups like running groups or similar groups you will build friendships based on these forms of exercise. These same people will call you if you don't show up and make you feel bad when you don't go. You also get up in the morning or later in the day when you're done with work and want to be with them and workout. It will also be exciting to see how you and your friends improve as time goes by. Now some sports and forms of exercise have less competition, meets in other similar get-togethers than others.
It also helps to watch TV shows that may be of interest or even deal with exactly what you're going through. Why are you exercising is it just for better health or you trying to lose weight? Whatever the reason there's probably a reality TV show out now that has people doing something similar to what you're doing in it. Some great shows I've seen recently that do include exercising to deal with weight loss are The Big Loser and You Are What You Eat. If you don't have access to cable (don't get DirecTV) then many of these programs and shows can be purchased either online or at your local stores like target and Wal-Mart in their audio/video departments.
It definitely helps to watch the shows as you will see people that are probably more of an extreme case then you might be dealing with, but the tips and advice is for real and applicable to everyone. The fact that you need to work out aerobically and consistently is a big part of these programs. Proper diet and nutrition is huge. What good is it to work out hard day after day just to go and eat McDonald's big Macs, Burger King whoppers in Wendy's double and triple stack burgers with french fries and soda?

Another good piece of advice is to get a good book for someone that you see as an idol. For instance, if you like running, Jim Ryun, would be a great person to start with - five world records and a sub four minute mile while still a senior in high school. He went to Olympic several times and set numerous world records in running the mile and 1500 meter races. He also is a very positive role model in that he kept a straight face and stay honest when others cheated around even when it cost him Olympic medals.
This is another great tip for keeping motivated to exercise daily which is to pick an idol. Cu out or copy a picture of them and place it where you will see daily. When you're feeling down or like you don't want to workout that day, look at the picture of your idol that you have selected and ask yourself what would your idol have done if they faced the same things that you are. Most of these people like Jim Ryun faced very similar even worse circumstances than you are currently facing. What do you think they would have done? Would they have given up and gone back to bed? Never. Remember the saying when the going gets tough the tough get going?
So there you have it, how to get motivated to exercise daily whether it be to lose weight on a more permanent basis or just to improve your general health. Find a type of exercise that you like and then incorporate or enlist others to do this with you. Watch motivational TV shows like The Biggest Loser and You Are What You Eat to learn the latest tricks and tips from nutrition to exercise to diets, etc. Then be sure and find some good books related to your form of exercise and also pick an idol or two. You can also join local Meetup or other similar groups to help keep you motivated to exercise daily. Good luck, stay fit and get healthy.
