How to properly shave pubic hair

By David Maillie

Most people have no idea that properly shaving pubic hair is actually an easy task and can be esthetically pleasing or more attractive at the same time.  To most it is an arduous task rife with nicks, cuts, and inflamed skin.  This is, for the most part due to a lack of knowledge on how to properly trim and shave your pubic hair.

What most people don’t know is that there really is a method that greatly reduces the discomfort usually associated with trimming and shaving pubic hair.  Regardless of whether your desire is to be completely shaved (nude) or Brazilian or some similar pubic hair style, it all boils down to the proper method.

First the long pubic hairs must be trimmed.  This is done with sharp scissors (dull scissors will pull hairs and add to your discomfort while doing this).  Carefully trim the area to be shaved as close as possible.  The reason for this is simple, long hairs will dull your shaving blades quickly.  They will also clog them and cause more pulling, nicking and inflamed skin patches.  By trimming the pubic hair prior to shaving you greatly reduce the risk of these.

Next take a shower and make sure you really wet and clean the pubic region.  This serves two purposes:

1)      You want to be sure to remove all the loose hairs that you just trimmed and cut.

2)      You want to soften the hairs and skin making them easier to shave and less likely to become nicked.

Have wrinkle and acne free skin. Skin treatment actually used by dermatologists that is guaranteed to work - the TCA skin peel skin from Bestskinpeel.com.  Guaranteed and proven to make you feel and look several years younger!

Next select a razor specifically made to be gentle and if possible specifically made for the pubic region (there are a few that are marketed primarily for this).  Do not use razors for tough beards and such.  Stick to a very gentle, feminine razor to reduce your chances of nicks and irritation (this even includes men that want to shave their pubic hair).  Be sure to lather up well with shaving lotion and be sure to pick one with moisturizers for sensitive skin.

Be sure to shave with the hair in the direction it grows, not against it.  As this will reduce the chance of ingrown hairs, inflamed skin and resultant pimples and raised bumps (also called razor burn).

After you are done be sure to rinse the area well with plenty of warm water.  If you do find that you have nicks or feel a little inflamed or irritated you can use cold water and a wash towel pressed lightly to further sooth the area.
