This instrument abrades the skin by showering higher pressurized flow of minute crystals. The crystals are recycled and reused by the machine thus dispersing the dead skin cells once they have been removed. This causes the top surface layer of the skin to be removed and a fresh layer under this to resurface to the top (akin to a light sand blasting).

This causes the epidermis to produce more skin cells to fill the loss and can lead to an increase in collagen production like with a TCA peel. The top layer which housed the fine wrinkles, acne scars, age spots etc are therefore removed. The dead skin removal causes the removal of any discoloration, roughness of skin, black heads, white heads and also active acne. Microdermabrasion should be repeated once a week for around 5 to 6 weeks for it to be effective.
